Freak of Nature

  • Why you selected the animals you did
  • What part was most challenging, what part was the easiest?
  • How realistic do you think your creation looks?
  • Have you used photo editing software before? If so, what did you use it for?

I chose these animals because a panda is a very popular animal right now because of the song and i chose a giraffe because i thought that it would look cool with a panda head.
The most difficult part was making it look realistic and the easiest part was cutting it out.
I think it looks pretty realistic.
     No I have not.

Automobile Body Styles and Design

Automobile Body Styles

Truck - Trucks or pickup trucks are the workhorses of the auto industry. Found with an open, flat bed for hauling a variety of cargo, pickup trucks can be fitted with three cabin options. If looking at a truck, choosing the right kind for a specific lifestyle can prove very difficult. It’s wise for a buyer to seriously realize their needs and not purchase a truck that may be too limited or excessive in capacity. In regards to passenger volume, regular cab trucks provide single row seating while an extended cab adds rear seat room for addition passengers. In order to grant improved rear seat accessibility, crew cab trucks present four-door cabins for ultimate convenience.

Luxury -A luxury car is considered the peak of driving comfort and aspires to provide the most rewarding sensation of motoring. Based on the oddity and expense of early automobiles, the luxury car category was actually one of the first vehicle types established. One key element of a luxury car is their higher cost to conventional automobiles. Brand prestige, but also technology causes the price of luxury cars to be greater.

Hybrid and Electric - Combining industry leading fuel efficiency with minimal environmental impact makes hybrid and electric cars a dream come true for eco-minded motorists. One of the most widely available electric vehicles on the market is the Nissan Leaf.

Coupe  - Considered sporty and personal, a coupe is a long-running body style in automobile circles. Derived from the days when horse-driven carriages were popular, the term coupe was initially applied to closed carriages without rear-facing seats. Created for an intimate driving feel, coupes provide a broad range of motoring tastes and budgets.

SUV - Built on a truck frame, SUVs harnesses utility attributes and powerful engine performance. One of the first popular SUVs in the United States was the Jeep originally conceived based on a demand for a four-wheel drive vehicle during World War II.

Part Two of Two
  • How long can it take to design a car? What phase (or stage) do they start off with?
It can take about 3 years, sometimes more sometimes less.  They start of with designs or sketches.
  • Why is design called problem solving?
Because they have an industrial design degree, a fine arts profession degree where they are given set of engineering restraints criteria when they have to come up with something that is interesting based on there criteria.

  • What is the feasibility stage? (What do they have to match up?)
It is when they take there sketch then put it on a "package" which tells where everything needs to go then they have to take those sketches and evolve them in to something that is possible.
  • Do you think designing an automobile or other type of vehicle would interest you? Explain.
No I do not think it would interest me very much because it seems like a very complex job and something i would not be interested in.

Careers and Certification in the Automotive Industry

Part One of Three

  1. One would be that the car could run off of a battery then when the battery dies it switches to the motor.
  2. They will need a good understanding on automotive repairs and some school subjects.
  3. High tech careers that require four, six, or even eight years of college, automotive technology careers can begin after just two years of education. As with any career, lifelong learning and continuing education is necessary, but the simple fact is, students in automotive technology can get out into the real world sooner – and with less college debt.
  4. "The U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts automotive repair and maintenance industry is expected to add 237,500 new jobs and have a 30 percent growth rate through 2020, making technicians one of the top 20 jobs with relatively high median earnings and the potential for significant job openings over the next decade."
  5. The repairs of more high tech things.
  6. Four are parts distribution collision repair, painting, and damage estimating
  • Some aspects I would enjoy would being able to work on my own car if I get broke down or something.
  • What I found interesting is that they will walk you through the whole process f you are struggling.
  • It is important and necessary because it is important to know what you are doing.
  • Some skills you should pick up are being nice to the person you are helping out.

Part Two of Three
Certification in the Automotive Industry.
NATEF  is to help improve the quality of automotive technician training programs nationwide.

SGS is to we provide unrivaled experience, supporting governments, manufacturers, traders, financial institutions and insurance companies across the world.

ASE is to help improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying automotive professionals.

Part Three of Three
Jobs in the Automotive Industry.
I think the job i would enjoy the most would be " Supercar Test Driver. " I would enjoy this because it seems like a very fun and interesting job. The job I think I would enjoy the least would be a " Car Designer. " I say that because that is something I don't think I would be interested in.

Emerging Technologies and Automobiles

Part One of Two - Technologies in Development
  • Out of the six emerging technologies discussed in the article you read, which one do you think is less likely to happen? Explain your reasoning.
I think that the least likely one to happen would be the flying cars one. I think that because everyone thought that would be happening already and it never happen'd and i think it never will.

  • Out of the six emerging technologies from the article, which one do you think will have the biggest impact on society? Discuss why.
I think that #2  EV Extravaganza: Cheaper High-Range Electric Cars Abetted by Nationwide Quick-Charge Networks would have the biggest impact on society because everyone is looking for ways to save money and this would be a great way to do it.

  • Out of the six emerging technologies, which one do you think is almost a reality or may already be part of newer automobiles in some shape or form? (In other words, out of the six of them, which is likely to be the first technology used in automobiles?)
     I think #1
Autonomous Cars because I'v seen videos with people in cars that were driving them self on highways before.

  • The first video you viewed discusses Ford's "Driver Workload Estimator" which is a biometric sensing system. How do you think this technology could help keep drivers and their passengers safer?
I think it will help save drivers because it is looking over how you feel and if you dont feel good it can delay phone calls to keep you focused on driving.

  •  The second video looks at a possible prototype of a flying automobile while the third video shows the actual trial run of a working model. What are your thoughts on this technology? What do you think are the benefits and the disadvantages of having an automobile that can travel by land and air?
I think that they are not going to be able to make a flying car for a while because the real life model was just a plane. Benefits would be cutting down travel time and less accidents on the road. Some disadvantages would be there could be a failure in the car when flying it and it would be easier for someone to make a getaway. For example someone could rob somewhere then fly away.

  • The idea of a self-driving automobile (or autonomous automobile) has been discussed and argued about for a number of years now. Some people think it is a great idea, and they argue it would result in less driver error and fewer accidents. Other people think it is robbing drivers of the "experience" of the open road and takes away the role of driving which many people enjoy. Where do you stand? Explain your position.
Personally I think it is a great idea because driving for many hours can be a hassle and after a while you start to get tired and there will be a great chance of falling asleep while drive endangering you and anyone around you. You can still get the driving "experience of the open road" In a much safer way.

Part Two of Two - Tech for the Sake of Tech?
  • Many people surveyed about the technology in their cars were of younger generations. Did you find it surprising that younger people (ages 21-38) did not care about having smart phone connectivity options in their automobiles? Do you think your generation would feel the same about this option?find this option beneficial? Explain your reasoning.
Yes I find it surprising because I would of thought those people would of wanted to use technology the easiest and safest way. I think that our generation would be different  because they would want the easiest way.

  • The fact that many drivers are not using the connectivity options suggest that drivers are still using their smart phones while driving. Do you think the other technologies mentioned in the article (adaptive cruise control and blind spot warnings) helps address the dangers of distracted driving or only makes it easier for drivers to take more risks? Discuss your opinion.
I think that it is a safer way because if people are still using there phones and not the apps installed in there cars, these safety features will warn them if the are distracted by there phones.

  • Considering drivers you know (family and friends) and even your own preferences, how important are new technological features when considering the purchase of a new automobile?
They are very important because there was a commercial for a car on t.v that wouldn't play the radio until all the seat belts were fastened and my father thought it was a great idea and looked into the car.

  •   What is one new technological feature that you would like to have, or would look for, when purchasing your own automobile? Why is it important to you?
I think one would the ability to talk to your car to get it to multiple things like play songs, answer and send out calls and text and to search things up. That is important to me because I would get distracted very easily and if i could do that it would make everything easier.
