Assignment #1: One Mississippi

Seeing these distances in meter sticks made me never want to look away from the road because it's very dangerous. Anything could happen when you look away just for a few seconds. One reason this lesson may be effective is because it makes you scared or nervous about looking away. One reason it may not change anything is that too many people get distracted and will still look at there phones no matter what. Some people probably don't even care and will still do it anyways because they don't think anything would happen to them. An invention that people could invent is a car that your phone doesn't work in, unless its an emergency or the phone is in the back or the passenger seats. I will probably only speak up if they are seriously endangering my life.

Journal Entry #4 (Netiquette)

Something I found most surprising when it comes to issues around netiquette would be how you can be so mean and not even realizing. No I don't think that most Internet users read or concern themselves with the terms of service/use agreements when joining a site because they want to get on the site or its way too much to read. They should go over the terms of agreement because a lot of things they are agreeing to can affect them in the  future. Considering the different issues this unit looked at about behaving appropriately online, on a scale of 1-10 I would rate my own online behavior as an 6/10 because I am not too good online because I don't read the terms of agreement but I'm never real bad online. One thing I can take away from this unit and put in practice to improve my online behavior would be learn how to take the time to read through the terms of service agreement because I never do and my luck something will happen in the future because I did not read them.

Do As I Say (Assignment #2)

Five reasons why I do things the right way in digital society:

1:  I would choose the right path of not sending hate or hoax messages to others because I know it would be something I would not others doing to me, and it also a form of cyber bullying which should not be tolerated.

2: Using social media sites in malice way gives you a bad impression to people that may be important to you in the future. For example, a sport coach or job interviewer may search your personal information to see what you are like as a person; seeing vulgar language and bad content will not help you out in any way.

3:  It is a good idea to purchase for example a newspaper subscription than somehow illegally downloading it, as people should be getting paid for their hard work and it is simply the civil thing to do.

4: Not acting right in Digital Society could get you in trouble you in trouble with your guardians or even with the law. Acting in a responsible way online will save you from any unnecessary consequences. If you want to be a good child than it is a good idea to be a good one on the internet as well.

5:  Acting right online will tell what you are like as a person. If you act in a respectful, mature manner online will carry over to what you are like as a person.

"Online Standards of Service Use: (Assignment #1)

5 companies that use terms or services are :
1: Facebook
2: Twitter
3: Instagram
4: Snapchat
5: Kijiji

Something major that teens should look into is that once you post a photo on a site, that photo belongs to that company. Another thing is that once you thing something is deleted or gone forever, it not, the company's keep everything even if you deleted it. Companies such as Apple are permitted to see your precise location wherever you are; which is basically sending your personal data to a hidden database file and syncs whenever you connect to your phone. Companies such as Apple are permitted to see your precise location wherever you are; which is basically sending your personal data to a hidden database file and syncs whenever you connect to your phone. You don't own what you buy-- meaning any games/ music you purchase online are still under value of i.e. Facebook.

Journal #1 (Digital Security)

BBT 10: Digital Security

I found it surprising that there are more steps to making a password then just writing one, you have to think of a good password in capitals, numbers and lowercase numbers and not juts write your name for a password.
Something i found confusing or difficult was one of questions that was a '' trick question'' because i didn't know what to put for an answer

Journal #3: Digital Rights and Responsibilities

What surprised me most when speaking of Digital Rights and Responsibilities was how many rules and unsafe routes are able to be taken while on the internet. Things from hacking and plagiarizing to using a cellphone while driving are all topics of malice involving technology. There are so many things on the internet that cause people to act irresponsible on the internet. A reason to this may be due to popup ads, the spreading of spam/ hoaxes or even simply the temptation of causing a rumor. With this said, I do not think people act responsible on the internet. Examples of this are seen in my everyday life as well; you log onto Facebook and see a fake article wanting others to believe the information.
If I had to pick one commandment to always follow over the others, it would be "Thou shalt not cyberbully". I choose this since it is a very serious matter and doing this can put others lives at risk. Not only is it illegal, but it is simply wrong. This brings me to the issues that face young people involving Digital Rights.

Assignment #2 (Acronyms Attack)

1.Can you think of THREE MORE school appropriate additional acronyms (or abbreviations) that can help save time during a digital conversation if the other party is aware of the acronym? Create new ones if you can't.

1. TBH- To be honest
2. GTG- Got to go
3. LOL- Laugh out loud

2. List four places where you would NEVER use acronyms (or abbreviations) when communicating digitally. For Example: On a digital resume.

Four places I wouldn’t use abbreviations is:
      1.Sending homework to your teacher
2.Posting on facebook or on a social media
       3.Email
       4.Sending documents to boss

Communication Compass (assignment 1)

1) Digital Communication is the physical transfer of data from a point to point or pint to multi-point communication channel.
2) disadvantages
- It is unreliable as messages sent cannot be recognized by signatures. Software is available for this, but it can easily be hacked.
- Many people misuse the efficiency of digital communication. The sending of hoax messages, the usage of people to harm society, etc to damage society as a whole.
The establishment of Digital Communication causes degradation of the environment in some cases. Electronic waste is an example. The vibes given out by the telephone and cell phone towers are so strong that they can kill small birds.
- Digital Communication has completely ignored the human touch. A personal touch cannot be established because all the computers will have the same font.
advantages
-It is comparatively cheaper and the work which requires a lot of people can be done simply by one person as folders and other such facilities can be maintained.
-It is less expensive, more flexible and easy to manipulate
-In Digital Communication System, the error correction and detection techniques can be implemented easily.
-The messages can be stored in the device for longer times, without being damaged, unlike paper files that easily get damaged.
3) Three popular forms of Digital Communication include Email, High Definition Television and Cell phones. I believe these are all popular as they are extremely handy, easy to use and convenient. People can connect to others or obtain new information with just a click of a button; these up to date features allow their users to easily do as they may all on a TV or computer screen.
4) Three types of Digital Media that may not be around for much longer may include landlines for homes (from the replacement of portable cellphones), any type of social media website such as MySpace or Flickr (simply because they are being replaced by bigger and better social network sites), and Email, which is slowing down from chat-sites and texting.
5) Five locations where you should not be communicating digitally in my opinion include church, during class time, in a at work, at a funeral/ wake, at the dinner table or while driving. I think this because all of these places take a certain amount of respect to be given and communicating digitally would be disrespectful. Also is may be dangerous.
6) 2 dangerous situations in which you should never use digital communications include texting in a vehicle while driving, and using social network in a harmful way such as cyber-bullying, or spreading viruses. These bring danger to your personal life both physically and emotionally. Both can be avoided with using the technology at the right time and place.
7) believe over time, kids will eventually find a healthy lifestyle with technology. It may seem hard to see right now, because the online world is growing, but I think kids will be intelligent with how much they use it. It will only be so long before they see how addicted they are to technology before they smarten up and do something productive with their life.
8) When a person is no longer able to update or keep in touch with their personal online communication, I think there must be something on their will that lets them choose what they want to happen to the account. If I were going to die I would want my account deactivated completely due to the fact it could be hacked, or simply because there is no one alive to update that personal profile anymore. A solution to this growing problem would be to make every person with an online profile and write what they want to do with it before they die on their will.

Journal #2: Digital Communication

Journal #2: Digital Communication

Something I found most interesting about digital communication was how there was a lot more acronyms and abbreviations I did not know about, I will probably use a lot of them now that I know what they mean. A few things I learned from the email etiquette would be not to use all caps in emails because it seems like you are roaring at them and being rude. Another thing I learned is to always sign your name at the end of an email. Also I learned to make sure your attachments are put into the right format so people can open them.

1. I would say that the passwords listed are very easy to guess because a lot of people use it or that would be there first guess.

2. Yes i have used these passwords before when i was a kid and didn't think much about password security but now my passwords are more difficult to guess

3. I think seniors would use passwords like this because most of them don't know much about technology and to them a easy password is faster to type in and is easier to remember than a long password.
4. 3 horrible passwords could #1- Your first name
                                                #2- Password

App review

The apps I checked out for the first time were Befunky and Floorplanner

Befunky is a photo editing site. It is a great site because it is really easy and fun to use. It is very helpful and useful because if you wanted to edit a photo but don't want to spend money of a photo editing site or hire someone to do it for you, you can just do it yourself on Befunky because it is really easy and free.

The Floorplanner app is very useful and fun to use. It would be very useful if you were trying to plan rooms in your house or were remodeling. The app is very easy to use so anyone can easily try it out. There are hundreds of different items to put into your floor plans so that the app can be as realistic as possible.

Both of these apps can be very useful and were very fun to try out. I think they would be very helpful to some people.
