Journal #3: Digital Rights and Responsibilities

What surprised me most when speaking of Digital Rights and Responsibilities was how many rules and unsafe routes are able to be taken while on the internet. Things from hacking and plagiarizing to using a cellphone while driving are all topics of malice involving technology. There are so many things on the internet that cause people to act irresponsible on the internet. A reason to this may be due to popup ads, the spreading of spam/ hoaxes or even simply the temptation of causing a rumor. With this said, I do not think people act responsible on the internet. Examples of this are seen in my everyday life as well; you log onto Facebook and see a fake article wanting others to believe the information.
If I had to pick one commandment to always follow over the others, it would be "Thou shalt not cyberbully". I choose this since it is a very serious matter and doing this can put others lives at risk. Not only is it illegal, but it is simply wrong. This brings me to the issues that face young people involving Digital Rights.
